Another Reunion Done

Well, the 2008 Reunion is in the can! It went VERY well and everyone had a great time. I think we finally found the perfect site. Rock Springs was just FABULOUS!!! What fun, good food and of course great fellowship with family. http://www.rocksprings.net/

The first day Jeff, John, Jacob, Jared and I flew into KC and drove out. We made a swing through Manhattan to pick up some cases of drinks from Steven's house. As we drove by the campus we realized that we hadn't been back to Manhattan since the day we packed our house and drove out January 1st, 1988! We were surprised at how little it had changed. They have done a lot of construction around old stadium which looked really nice. It looks like they are FINALLY putting a parking garage in the student union parking lot too. We even drove by the little house where our first apartment was (25 years ago). It looked even smaller than we remembered. We then arrived at Rock Springs. How gorgeous! Of course coming from Arizona, everything seemed sooooo green. Pulling into the parking lot we see that Bob and Georgia had just beat us there. We checked into Leadership Lodge
and people began arriving. Two things we soon discovered; t-mobile doesn't have very good service there and don't believe the google maps directions (right Ruth?).

Day two started with breakfast at the cafeteria.

We were welcomed and given instructions for "special" people who get the "privilege" of cleaning the table. After that we were scheduled for the Leadership Course. We had fun learning how to communicate, cooperate and trust! Although we almost injured our instructor and I think we did everything the hard way. I am NOT going to give away some of the things we learned about how to do the course more easily. Yes, I am NOT communicating!!! You just had to be there! Next time it will have to be a contest between even and odds!?!?!

Then it was off to lunch. After lunch a group headed to the swimming pool for a brisk dip, some of the babies went down for a nap, and the rest just spent time visiting. We got discs for the 18 hole Frisbee golf course but we never seemed to get a game organized. After dinner we organized for family photos.

Then a few of us went canoeing. they basically have something similar to a race track for canoes. There is an island with a creek around it so it made for some fun racing.

Then we headed back to the lodge for the bi-annual family meeting (see minutes post). Jeff went into town and got some cupcakes and a variety of cheesecakes in celebration of a great reunion. After the meeting there was much visiting, photo sharing, card playing, DVD movies, DS playing etc. Needless to say it was your typical "stay up talking until you can't keep your eyes open" family reunion night!

Day three again started with a meal! Jacob said it felt like every time we turned around we were eating. And we never seemed to be hungry!!! So why did we need the cheesecake?!? Oh, that's right, food consumed on vacation contain 0 calories! Love that rule of eating!!! After breakfast we gathered back at the lodge for a wonderful worship service. Thank you Chunk, Janet, Virginia and Rick. It was truly the icing on the cake.

Then we all casually packed before heading up to lunch. After lunch everyone headed out with many tears, hugs and good-byes!

Kyle Look created some wonderful T-shirts for our Reunion. Modeled here by Chuck and Jan. I believe that you can still order them as well as mouse pads, coffee mugs, trucker hats, beach bags, etc etc etc. Contact Janet cjlook@msn.com or Kyle look_kyle@hotmail.com for more information.
